Getting Started

For starters, I am currently a college student working towards an Associates Degree in Business. After taking 7 consecutive quarters in a row, I realized I needed a break before burnout set in. So last summer I decided to take the quarter off. That is when I started making handcrafted jewelry. I have always loved to create and make just about anything that came to mind. Along with my obsession with always wanting to buy jewelry, I decided to start making my own. I started with a kit that made three sets of necklaces, bracelets and earrings. I was amazed that it was much easier than I had imagined, and that I really enjoyed making the pieces, that I immediately went back to the craft stores and started buying supplies to get started. Within days I had crafted over 50 different pairs of earrings, several bracelets, and various necklaces. I didn't stop there. I have been crafting jewelry ever since, and have sold many pieces. Just recently I made 11 floating necklaces with matching earrings for the brides maids in my sons wedding along with a necklace, bracelet and earring set for the bride. It is my hope to one day make a business out of this enjoyable hobby and with this blog being a part of getting started.

I welcome any tips from those who have also started a business from making handcrafted jewelry.
